What is Sashiko?
Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique that originated in the Tohoku region of northern Japan.
It was originally developed as a way to reinforce and insulate fabric, and is characterized by its geometric stitching patterns.
Today, Sashiko has transcended its utilitarian roots and is celebrated around the world for its graphic beauty, subtle texture, and cultural depth.
Tradition Meets Contemporary Design
These cushion covers are made from 100% cotton and feature timeless sashiko motifs that blend beautifully into modern interiors, while staying true to the philosophy of Mingei (民藝), the Japanese folk craft movement.
The fabric is produced by Kenichi Ohazama, a textile craftsman who trained under Yoshitaka Yanagi, the nephew of Muneyoshi Yanagi, founder of the Mingei movement.
Mr. Ohazama continues to preserve and evolve this tradition through a thoughtful process that involves weaving, dyeing, and finishing all carried out with deep craftsmanship and care.

White : A refined and serene piece with beautiful contrasts in light and shadow.
Brown : A warm, earthy tone that brings calmness and natural elegance to any room.
Cinnabar : A rich red inspired by traditional Japanese colors—expressing both warmth and strength.
All covers are made from 100% cotton, sized at 45×45 cm, and fit most standard cushion inserts (insert not included).

「刺し子（さしこ）」は、日本の東北地方で古くから親しまれてきた刺繍技法で、
もともとは、衣類や布地の補強・保温のために発展したもので、幾何学模様の縫い目が特徴です。その独自の模様と質感は、今や“実用”を超えて、“美”として世界でも再評価されています。
